2021 Honda CB1000R breaks cover, gets a new Black Edition
KUALA LUMPUR: After teasing the refreshed CB1000R last month, Honda has finally pulled the drapes off the newest streetfighter for global markets. The 2021 CB1000R arrives with a number of design changes along with a special and meaner-looking Black Edition trim.
Starting with the revised appearance, the bike now features a more slanted oval-shaped headlight with a horseshoe-shaped LED daytime running light that looks neat. Below it sits the aluminum radiator shrouds and side covers, which are also restyled. The bike’s rear sub-frame has also been redesigned and now finished in a clear coat.
The all-new Honda CB1000R also gets a new wheel design featuring gorgeous Y-shaped spokes.
At the heart, the new iteration houses the same 998cc liquid-cooled, four-cylinder engine that generates a maximum power of 145 PS at 10,500 rpm and a torque of 104 Nm at 8250 rpm. However, the engine now meets Euro 5 emission norms thanks to a tweaked fuel-injection system, which also improved its response and delivery, according to the automaker. No changes have been made to the riding modes as well as chassis.
In terms of connectivity, the 2021 Honda CB1000R has a 5-inch coloured TFT display compatible with Bluetooth smartphone as well as Honda Smartphone Voice Control. A USB port under the seat can also be found on the updated model.
As mentioned earlier, a CB1000R Black Edition is also new for 2021. According to the name, it is a blacked-out version that carries several black components like the headlight, windscreen, radiator shrouds, fork mounts, and exhaust. These elements are teamed up with a Deep Graphite Black colour shade for a very distinctive appearance. However, it is not just aesthetic differences but a flyscreen and quick-shifter as standard fitment also differentiate the Black Edition from the standard CB1000R.
While the updated CB1000R is expected to be available in the European showrooms by the end of this year, we hope it will soon make its way to Malaysia also. The ongoing version in the country is priced at RM 81,899.
