2021 Harley Davidson Pan America 1250 models now in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Harley Davidson introduced the two new adventure-touring motorcycles in the global market just last week, which have now made their way to the Malaysian shores. The company’s local distributor revealed all the details about the new hunks named the 2021 Pan America 1250 and Pan America 1250 Special and accepting their pre-orders.

The standard Pan America 1250 is priced at RM 99,000 in the country, while for the Special version, customers need to shell out an amount of RM 115,900. The mentioned prices include two years international warranty. 

In terms of design, the two Harley Davidson models are completely different from the contemporary adventure bikes. The prominent highlights are a flat LED headlight beam covering a wide aperture, an upswept muffler, two-piece split seats, and gold-finished exhaust pipes. The tourers are mostly wrapped in matte finishing.

Harley’s new ADV machines incorporate an all-new 1250-cc V-Twin DOHC engine under their sturdy frames. With four-valves per cylinder and variable valve timing, the mill generates a maximum power of 150 hp and a peak torque of 128 Nm. The power goes down to the wheels through a six-speed transmission system.

Speaking about the Pan America 1250 suspension setup, the base model gets a 47 mm upside-down fork at the front and a mono-shock at the rear. Both are fully-adjustable with an impressive travel of 190 mm. In contrast, the Pan America 1250 Special uses Showa electronically adjustable semi-active system with a vehicle loading control.

As for braking, there are Brembo monoblock four-piston calipers that grip dual 320 mm discs at the front, and a single 280 mm disc out back. The new Harley models have a 62.2-inch wheelbase, which is ideal for touring capability and agile handling.

Other notable features of the two models are:

• 19-inch front and 17-inch rear cast-aluminum wheels
• Adjustable seat height; 34.2 inches to 35.2 inches on the base and 33.4 inches to 34.4 inches in case of the special version
• 6.8-inch TFT-LCD full-colour display with Bluetooth connectivity. 
• LED Bullet turn signals

The available color options for the 2021 Pan America 1250 base model are Vivid Black and River Rock Gray, while for the 2021 Pan America 1250 Special, Harley offers three choices - Baja Orange / Stonewashed White Pearl, Gauntlet Gray Metallic, and Vivid Black.

The 2021 Harley Davidson Pan America 1250 models will lock horns against the segment top players viz. the KTM 1290 Adventure, BMW GS 1250, and the Ducati Multistrada V4.
