2021 BMW F 850 GS “40 Years GS Edition” launched In Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The year 2020 marked the 40th anniversary of BMW’s GS family, and to commemorate this occasion, the German automaker introduced the “40 Years GS Edition” versions of the F-series GS machines last year in July. Fast forward to today, BMW Motorrad Malaysia launched the special edition F 850 GS in the local market, priced at RM 85,500.

Adorned in a legendary black-yellow look, the new BMW F 850 GS “40 Years GS Edition” features a stylish design with gold-anodized rims and a GS radiator cover design that shows off its uninhibited riding prowess. It also equips a new tape design and the “40 Years GS” badge on the fairing side panel. 

The front end of the premium version is crafted to suit the dynamic silhouette, while a striking yellow handguard offers stylish protection. The LED headlight of the special trim has a Daytime Riding Light as standard and coupled with LED flashing turn indicators. If we talk about sitting space, the BMW F 850 GS “40 Years GS Edition” is fitted with black/yellow bench seat featuring the GS logo. 

As for the engine, it borrows the same 853-cc liquid-cooled 4-valve, 2-cylinder unit from the standard model. Paired with fuel injection technology and a six-speed gearbox, the said engine generates a maximum output of 95 hp at 8,250 rpm and a peak torque of 92 Nm at 6,250 rpm. The two counterbalance shafts available in the new variant work to get a spontaneous response, impressive pulling power, and low fuel consumption.

Along with this, the F 850 GS “40 Years GS” Edition is also equipped with Dynamic Traction Control and the Dynamic Electronic Suspension Adjustment for better riding performance around corners and across different terrains. ABS Pro also comes as standard.

• 6.5-inch TFT-LCD screen display for all the necessary information
• BMW Motorrad’s Connectivity, which connects the display with the rider’s smartphone via Bluetooth

• Four ride modes 
• Touring assistance via Cruise Control
• Tyre pressure monitoring system
• Dynamic Engine Brake Control and Shift Assistant Pro
• Luggage racks

Talking about the availability, the BMW F 850 GS 40 Years GS Edition will only be available in 2021 in a limited number.
