2019 Yamaha 135LC - All you need to know
Yamaha 135 LC was a gamechanger in the segment of underbone when it was first launched in 2006. It was the first in its segment to introduce various new features at the time, but the most vital was its liquid-cooled engine; hence, it is labelled as “LC”. The first generation of 135LC still holds its legacy as the fastest underbone ever build, until the debut of 150cc rivals. It was the high time to continue the production with upgrades along the way.
For 2019, the powertrain remains untouched with 135cc, SOHC, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, which comes mated to a 4-speed transmission with auto clutch. However, to freshen up the look of the underbone, it receives various aesthetic changes. It includes a revised instrument panel, an engine cowl,
some air scoops and a stylish horn cover. This facelift has enhanced the elegant look of the bike, and it now offers new colour schemes like Red, Black, Blue and Silver, which makes the bike very appealing. The headlight now features LED pilot lamps, and the front profile provides a playful angular look. To make the bike look more aggressive, it gets racy cowl festooned with vents and gills.
Moving to the engine, the 135cc motor is capable of churning out 11.97 hp of maximum power at 8,500 rpm and 11.79 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. It can return a fuel economy of 45 kmpl, which signifies that it can give a range of 180km with the 4 L fuel tank.
Even though the bike comes at a very affordable price point, it does not misses out on safety. It flaunts a massive 267 mm diameter disc brake with a single-piston setup at the front and a drum brake at the rear for sufficient stopping power. A conventional telescopic set up in the front and a monocross suspension in the rear takes care of the suspension duties and helps the bike to provide a smooth and comfortable ride.
Even if the specs look impressive on paper, the bike has its own merits and demerits. Here are some of the pros and cons of the 2019 Yamaha 135LC:
Pros:
- The slim profile helps to filter through traffic with ease
- The sleek tyres make the bike agile and nimble to ride
- The 135cc engine is very powerful compared to its rivals
- The power to weight ratio is very impressive
- Returns a pretty decent fuel economy
- The suspensions are capable enough to gulp the potholes
- The brakes provide a very good stopping power
- It comes at a very affordable price tag
Cons:
- It feels a bit old fashioned as it lacks feature like digital meters
- It only gets LED pilot lamps and not a LED headlamp for better visibility at low lighting conditions
- The seats are not comfortable for long rides as it lacks enough cushioning
- Even though the bike loves to get revved, but it produces a lot of vibration at the handlebar and footpegs at higher rpm
- The slim tyres do not offer great grip on wet or low traction roads
Talking about the rivals, one can compare the Yamaha 135LC with Sym Sport Rider 125i, Honda EX5, and Benelli TNT 135. Here’s the comparison table.
The Yamaha 135LC is a pretty decent bike and still holds its legacy of the fastest underbone in its segment. It offers all the features that one would expect at the given price point and does its job of providing fun and at the same time, fuel efficiency.
