2019 EICMA: 2020 KTM 1290 Super Duke R, 890 Duke R, and 390 Adventure revealed

KUALA LUMPUR: One of the leading performance motorcycle manufacturers, KTM has revealed 2020 1290 Super Duke R, 890 Duke R, and 390 Adventure at the 2019 EICMA motorcycle show. A mini electric motocross named KTM SX-E will soon be joining the lineup, which is specially designed for the young off-road racers.

2020 KTM 1290 Super Duke R launch

All the KTM fanboys know that 1290 Super Duke is often called as “The Beast” and for the year 2020, this beast has been provided with a completely new chassis, revised electronics and revamped styling. Moreover, the overall weight of the bike has also been reduced in order to offer better power to weight ratio.

Moving to the powertrain, it stills comes equipped with the same 1,301cc V-twin motor, which is capable of churning out a maximum power of 177 hp and a peak torque of 140 Nm. By using revised cooling mounts and thinner engine casing, the manufacturer was able to shred 800 gms of weight. In addition to that, the bike managed to lose additional 2Kg of weight, thanks to the new frame. Even after losing the above-mentioned weights, the bike is now three times stiffer as it now gets larger diameter tubing with slimmer walls.

890 Duke R

Talking about 2020 890 Duke R, it borrows the parallel-twin powertrain from the younger sibling, Duke 790. With the help of the 37 mm intake, 30 mm exhaust valves and new cylinder head, the bike is capable of putting out 121 hp of maximum power and 99 Nm of peak torque. It uses a large cast aluminium affair that helps in increasing the rigidity of the chassis and also reducing the weight.

890 Duke R

The last model in the lineup is the much-awaited 2020 390 Adventure R, which is an adventure variant of the naked monster 390 Duke. It uses the same 373cc engine, which we find in the Duke 390. The mill can generate a maximum power of 43 hp and a peak torque of 37 Nm.
