100 units limited KTM Moto2 track bike teased
KUALA LUMPUR: In all the three MotoGP race categories, from MotoGP to Moto2, and Moto3, KTM presence can’t be ignored. However, the band’s efforts in the past couple of years didn’t really show up on the similar models in its range. But that’s all about to change soon.
Wondering how? Well, KTM is planning to launch a limited-edition track motorcycle, inspired by the company’s efforts in Moto2, the MotoGP’s intermediate category. A short teaser of the said limited edition model is also released by KTM, however, it doesn’t show many details. The information we know for sure is that KTM will be only building 100 units of the KTM Moto2, all of which will be hand-built.
The teaser also confirms the date and time of the limited-edition model reveal, i.e., July 20, 2021 at 16:CEST.
The current Moto2 race series is powered by Triumph's 765cc inline-three mill, so many think the limited-edition model might utilise KTM’s potent race-winning chassis. As for the powertrain setup, the sound from the teaser video hints towards KTM’s 890cc parallel-twin unit.
The same mill powers the ongoing 890 Duke generating maximum power of 115 hp and a peak torque of 92 Nm. In the limited-edition model, it is expected to pump out a bit more. The expected output figures being somewhere around 130 hp. It might also benefit from Brembo, WP Suspension and other eligible bits.
With all this and more, the limited-edition KTM Moto2 will surely deliver a ride to remember. What do you think? Do let us know in the comments.
