Also, in the offering is present a special orange edition that due to its exclusive retro-colour splash holds a slightly higher price of RM 69,900.
Time to know the 2018 Kawasaki Z900RS a little better, here are top three highlights that'll impress the rider -
1. Retro meets modern styling
Do you remember 1973 launched Kawasaki Z1, the same bike that was tagged as the ‘Motorcycle of the Year’ by many renowned publications and was popular by as ‘the legend’. Well, it is from the same legend, the Kawasaki Z900RS has taken all its designing inspiration and thus is called the ‘Return of the Legend’ by the company. The Z900RS combines the old-school styling clues borrowed from the Z1 with the latest street riding tech developed by the Green Team.
Ensuring the best amalgamation of modern and retro theme, Kawasaki is taken great care of every aspect. Be it the front, rear or side profile, Z900RS looks classic but making it apt with the current styling standards, it includes elements like - dual analogue dials, LED light, multi-function LED display and more. Further, conforming to its mixed old-new DNA the company has given it a sound that both smooth yet has carries a powerful thunder thanks to the 4-in-1 double wall exhaust pipe system that’s been designed especially for the Z900RS.
2. Performance that impresses
Though Kawasaki Z900RS styling is inspired by the legendary Z1, for its performance Kawasaki has looked up the mighty 2017 Z900 ABS. Borrowing the engine tech from the said model, the all-new Z900RS houses a 948cc four-cylinder mill that produced the maximum power output of 110bhp @ 8500 along with peak torque of 98 Nm @ 6500 RPM.
The performance figure though seems lower than that produced by the Z900 ABS, i.e. 123 bhp @ 9500 RPM and 98.6 Nm @ 7700 RPM, but what’s important to note here is that there is a 2000 RPM difference and that's what matters more.
3. Flexible, responsive and agility
Style, check. Power, check. Now, the next important thing that makes a bike, a superbike is its handling ability. Kawasaki Z900RS is turned superbly, ensuring crisp readability and handling. Supporting the motorcycle on this front are functionalities like - 41mm front upside down for that lets the rider tune the compression, preload and rebound, thus delivering the optimum experience. Next, up is present the horizontal back link swingarm shock absorbers that provide for seamless agility and tactile response.
Another part of its lightweight body frame is a brake-package consisting of a dual front disc with a single rear unit that assures a safe, non-stop ride. Further, elevating the safety aspect is the dual-channel ABS mechanism and Kawasaki K-TRC traction control system.
That’s all on the , the perfect combination of retro style and modern functionality. However, only time will tell whether its a hit or a miss amongst the gen-next riders.
