3 Things to know about the recently launched 2018 Triumph Tiger 800

The next generation Triumph Tiger is scheduled to launch sometime in April 2018 with as many as six variants and a slew of upgrades in the engine and chassis area. The all-new Tiger 800 received a number of modifications both above and underneath its skin. The six Tiger 800 variants to be launched in Malaysia are - Tiger 800 XR, Tiger 800 XRx, Tiger 800 XRx Low, Tiger 800 XRT, Tiger 800 XCx and Tiger 800 XCa. The least expensive being the Tiger 800 XR that'll cost RM56,900, whereas, the Tiger 800 XCa with RM81,900 price tag would the most expensive trim.

Here are the three most exciting things you should know about the 2018 Triumph Tiger 800 :-

The Engine

Some of the most important changes made in the new Triumph Tiger 800 are seen in the engine and gearbox region. The engine hasn’t been changed though. The adventure comes with the same 800cc inline three-cylinder motor with an output of 94 bhp at 9,500 rpm, which is also not very different from the ongoing generation. The peak torque of 79 Nm at 8,000 rpm is also somewhat similar to the current generation. But, it offers a much more enhanced off-road traction thanks to its first gear which has been made a bit shorter, it also results in a more efficient acceleration and low-speed response. The primary drive gears and the clutch have also been changed, the new gears help reduce the whistling sound.

Changes in Styling and Ergonomics

The overall dimension and silhouette remain unchanged. However, the new generation Triumph Tiger 800 gets some styling and design revisions. All the variants are available with a lot more colour options along with the previously available options.

The new Triumph Tiger 800 comes with a revised handlebar to provide a far more comfortable riding experience. One can also notice the adjustable windshields in the mid and top variants. The XR and the XC variants also get adjustable seats.

Riding Modes and New TFT Instrument Panel

The mid variants of the 2018 Triumph Tiger 800 come with four different riding modes, while the XRt model gets as many as five different modes. The base XR model, however, gets only the Road mode.

The mid and top variants of the 2018 Triumph Tiger 800 feature an all-new TFT instrument panel (except for the base XR trim which gets an LCD panel). The TFT panel is adjustable and provides excellent visibility to the riders, you can also change the viewing angle when riding off-road.

The Triumph Tiger 800 has been a very successful model for the manufacturer, and these exciting additions will only attract more adventure bike lovers. With a lot more technology and comfort, it is sure to be a success when it hits the market.
