Zeekr 001 gets major over-the-air updates, check details

KUALA LUMPUR: If you aren’t aware, Zeekr is a Chinese EV maker that introduced its latest model the 001 in April last year. And now less than a year after the first badge was delivered the automaker has announced major over-the-air (OTA) updates for the 001 EV.

The said Zeekr OTA includes smart driving technologies, driver comfort, and cockpit interface. All this along with a host of body and chassis hardware enhancements for the 2022 Zeekr 001.

What else? The latest update also includes a high-performance 8155 Snapdragon microchip that optimizes over 200 key items of user control functionality within the cockpit.

As for the new intelligent driving system, it allows the users to switch among various driving modes. It includes a distributed traction control system which is designed for pure electric vehicles.

Other key highlights of the latest Zeekr 001 update include -

• A signal transmission system with a 10 times faster processing rate then most existing systems
• Computing is now down to milliseconds
• Improved acceleration performance by 31 percent on harsh road surfaces, snow, and ice conditions
• Enhanced maximum controllable concerning speed
• Based on the road conditions the user can switch between all-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, and real-time adaptive four-wheel-drive system

A little about the Zeekr 001 EV -

It is the world’s first production car to come equipped with two 7nm autonomous driving chips that are embedded in a complete visual fusion sensing system. It enables the 001 EV to self-adapt autonomously at 130 kmph. In the testing environment, the EV automatically slows down when it detects non-motor vehicles or pedestrians approaching. Also, the 001 will automatically detect a truck approaching or an open car door on the side and turn the wheels slightly to avoid a possible side collision.
