XPENG Mona M03: Affordable electric sedan launched with impressive specs
KUALA LUMPUR: Following the recent debut of XPENG’s first vehicle in Malaysia, the company continues to make waves globally with the introduction of the XPENG Mona M03, a new contender in the entry-level electric sedan market. Officially launched on August 27, this model is poised to capture attention with its competitive pricing and advanced features.

The sedan is being touted for its world-class aerodynamics, featuring what XPENG claims is the world’s lowest drag coefficient for a vehicle in its class.
Performance-wise, all models are front-wheel drive. The base version, equipped with a 190 PS motor producing 225 Nm of torque, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds. The other two variants offer enhanced performance, boasting a 218 PS motor and 250 Nm of torque, reducing the 0-100 km/h sprint time to 7.4 seconds.
In terms of range, the base model comes with a 51.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, delivering a CLTC range of 515 km. The higher-end versions are equipped with a larger 62.2 kWh battery, extending the range to 620 km and 580 km respectively.
XPENG has yet to disclose the specific charging speeds for the Mona M03, only noting that it supports DC fast charging, which can recharge the battery from 10% to 80% in just 26 minutes.
The interior of the Mona M03 features a 15.6-inch floating touchscreen powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor with 16 GB of RAM, providing a seamless user experience. The sedan also includes voice control for all four corners, a panoramic glass roof, optional 256-color ambient lighting, and an 18-speaker PSS sound system.
According to CnEVPOST.com. XPENG’s strategic pricing for the Mona M03 significantly undercuts earlier expectations, making it the most affordable model in their lineup and approximately half the price of a Tesla Model 3.
XPENG’s gamble on the Mona M03 seems to be paying off, with the company reporting over 10,000 orders within just 52 minutes of the launch. By the end of the first 48 hours, firm orders had surged past 30,000, a clear indication of the market’s positive reception.
The Mona M03 measures 4,780 mm in length, 1,896 mm in width, and 1,445 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,815 mm, offering a balanced mix of space and agility.
XPENG’s chairman and CEO, He Xiaopeng, personally handed over the first units of the Mona M03 to customers at the Chengdu Auto Show. The company has announced that nationwide deliveries will commence shortly, with video footage already circulating on Weibo showcasing parking lots filled with Mona M03 units ready for their new owners.
