Volkswagen Trinity first official image released
KUALA LUMPUR: Volkswagen Trinity is the German automaker’s electric sedan that commits to offering higher charging speed, electric driving range, and digitization. The highlight here is that it will come with Level 4 autonomous driving capabilities. Trinity’s manufacturing process will begin in 2026 at Wolfsburg, Germany.
Wondering what inspired the EVs name, Trinity? Well, Trinity comes from the Latin word ‘trinitas’ which means tri-unity, thus representing the three pillars of the Project Trinity which are -
- A fully connected production line in Wolfsburg
- Newly developed electronics platform with state-of-the-art software
- Simplification of supply structure
Ralf Brandstatter, VW CEO said, “We are using our economies of scale to make autonomous driving available to many and to build a learning neural network. In this way, we are creating the conditions for the continuous exchange of data from our vehicle fleet – for example, on the traffic situation, on obstacles or on accidents.”
Like VW Trinity, Volvo cars can also communicate with one another and warn about traffic conditions and potential hazards ahead.
All upcoming EV’s including Trinity will come with fewer variants and the car will have everything on board virtually. Also, the hardware will be standardized at a large scale, reducing the production complexity. By developing cars as software-based products, the automakers will be able to offer more attractive usage kits and entry barriers to individual mobility will be reduced.
On this thought, Ralf further added, “In the future, the personalisation of a car will no longer be determined by the hardware at the time of purchase. Instead, customers will be able to add functions on demand at any time via the digital ecosystem in the car”.
