Volkswagen to become an all-electric car brand in Europe by 2033
KUALA LUMPUR: All big or small automakers are geared up to embrace full electrification sooner or later, and Volkswagen Group is no exception. The German auto giant has recently shed some light on its electrified mobility plans laid in June 2021.

The brand aims to have the right offer in every segment in order to have a suitable model range.
As for other global touchpoints, the company is expected to roll out a similar treatment after hitting the set goal for the European markets.
Schaefer further confirmed that in the coming years the group would reduce the number of models on offer and raise the profit margin for all volume brands like Volkswagen, Skoda and SEAT, and commercial vehicles - to 8% by 2025.
To turn its EV plans into reality, the VW Group has also made partnerships with other firms, just like other carmakers, which will save a whopping €220 million (RM 1,035 million) in terms of production costs.
Closer to home, Volkswagen Passengers Cars Malaysia recently previewed the ID.4 electric SUV that will rival the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. The German EV is equipped with an electric motor producing a maximum power output of 204 PS and a 77 kWh lithium-ion battery offering a range of 519 km (on the WLTP cycle). Pricing and availability details of the EV are yet to be announced.
