Marketed under Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, the Amarok is not offered in the ASEAN region, however, it’s its unique teaser that has captured our attention. The car in the teaser is not wrapped in camouflage or photographed in super low light but rather illuminated.
The illuminated teaser provides us with a glimpse of the pick-up’s side and rear profile. So, what do we know about the upcoming VW Amarok?
- The next-gen Amarok pickup is jointly developed by VW and Ford. The VW’s model will be launched only after the official introduction of the all-new Ranger
- The upcoming VW pickup will be built in South Africa
- Like any pickup, the Amarok showcases a rigid three-box silhouette with flat, boxy doors, and rear deck design
- The teaser shows a high hood line and bold frontal look, like the ones seen in the Atlas SUV
- On to the side are present massive wheels protected by prominent fenders
- Inside it gets a massive portrait-oriented infotainment display on the centre of the dashboard
- At the lower console, we see an array of switches presumably for drive and terrain modes and a definite one for Electronic Parking Brake
What will power the upcoming 2023 VW Amarok?
VW has not spilled any details regarding the pickup’s powertrain, however, the range-topping unit is said to be powered by a 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel mill making 260 hp and 580 Nm.
When will VW launch the new Amarok?
We don’t have a definite date yet, but the pickup is expected to launch this summer.
