Volkswagen service centres resumed operations; prior appointment required

KUALA LUMPUR: In the third phase of MCO, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry has given permission to the car companies for their service centres operations. Volkswagen is one of those automakers who has taken the approval, and most of its service outlets are now open. Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia announced the resumption on its social media account.

The respective outlets are operating on days and time as per the approved directions. Therefore, the firm advised its customers to confirm the operating slots of the outlet and get an appointment before visiting.

For the safety of customers visiting the centres, the firm has taken strict precautionary measures. It includes regular sanitization of premises, safety screening and briefing for staff, check on body temperature of customers and employees, contact-less vehicle acceptance, and vehicle sanitization before and after. The pick-up and drop-off arrangement is also available at some selected outlets.

A few days ago, Volkswagen also rolled-out a “Welcome Back” aftersale program under the VolkswagenCares initiative. Under this, the customers can book their service appointments on the company’s website. In this program, the company also provided benefits to those VW customers who are coronavirus frontline employees. Benefits include priority booking, complimentary car sanitization, and a 10% discount on the total bill (T&C apply). So, the frontliners who have signed-up through the campaign will get the priority slot as per the availability.

Volkswagen also stated that “customers’ safety is our top priority, and they can contact their trusted service centres for their aftersales requirements.”

Besides Volkswagen, the service outlets of Toyota and Hyundai are also opened now. And they are not entertaining the walk-ins, so a prior appointment is required.

It is to be noted that the government announced the movement control order in the country on March 18. Following that, all the dealerships and service centres were advised to be closed. However, at the time of announcing the third phase of MCO, the Prime Minister provided some relaxation to the vehicles’ service centres. The third phase of MCO is about to end on April 28.
