Volkswagen reveals 2021 Taigun ahead of the 2020 Auto Expo
KUALA LUMPUR: The German automaker has revealed the 2021 Taigun at a media event ahead of the Auto Expo. Aimed to fight against the likes of the Kia Seltos and the Hyundai Creta, the 2021 Taigun is identical to the T-Cross sold in China. The subcompact SUV concept was earlier showcased at the Auto Expo 2014.
Design-wise, the 2021 Taigun gets LED headlamps upfront, LED taillights at the back, and large machine-finished wheels on the sides. The near-production shown here gets chiselled bonnet, roof rails, busy front fascia, integrated rear spoiler, and a rectangular end profile. Inside, the company has blessed it with 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.
Built on the MQB A0 platform, the VW 2021 Taigun will be manufactured locally in India and feature a 1.0-litre turbocharged power mill with the ability to churn out a max power of 115 PS and a peak torque fo 200 Nm, coupled with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG auto transmission. A CNG variant of the 2021 Taigun will also be launched after its combustion counterparts.
Slated to be launched early 2021, the VW Taigun has only been revealed for the Indian market. The expected price of the compact SUV in India is from Rs 10 lakh (RM 57,715 approx) up to 16 lakh (RM 92,344 approx).
