Volkswagen Polo facelift teaser image out, few details revealed
KUALA LUMPUR: The 2021 Volkswagen Polo facelift is all set to make a debut on April 22, that's only a few days from now. To keep the hype around the revised hatch intact, the automaker has released a new teaser image of the car that reveals new information about the latest offering. For instance, we get to see a new paint scheme and tweaked headlamps.
Recently Seat released the facelifted Ibiza hatchback which seems to share a lot of styling elements with the Polo. The current generation model was released around four years ago and therefore was due for a midlife facelift. So, what all is expected to change?
The VW Polo facelift, the Mk6 will underpin the automaker's MQB platform that is 81 mm longer, 94 mm wider, and 7 mm lower than the familiar Mk5. Also, the wheelbase is a full 94 mm longer. Thus, the Polo facelift dimensions will read 4053 mm X 1751 mm X 1446 mm (LxWxH). The car's wheelbase stands at 2,564 mm.
From the official teaser image, the Polo facelift benefits from several style revisions including a redesigned front grille, revised bumper, sharper bi-LED headlights, large VW moniker at the centre, new alloys, LED tail lights, and a striking illuminated LED strip running throughout the car's front fascia. Also, part of the exterior styling kit is LED DRL's that seem to be connected with the illuminated strip but have a separate motif at the corner of the headlamps.
On the inside, the Polo facelift hatch will feature a tablet-styled infotainment unit, like the one seen in the new Ibiza. Further, the hatch will feature a revised centre console.
In VW's words, “New technologies are finding their way in, instruments are becoming more digital and, thanks to greater networking, the inhabitants are ‘always on’ – so the success story of this vehicle can continue.”
Volkswagen is yet to reveal Polo facelift technical details and specifications, however, it is expected to share the same with the recently introduced 2021 Seat Ibiza. Polo GTI and TGI versions are reported to join the lineup later on.
