Volkswagen new small crossover set to reveal on October 13
KUALA LUMPUR: More than half of the Volkswagens sold in the U.S. market last year were SUVs and crossovers. And it seems that the company has plans to make more out of this booming segment. The automaker recently teased a brand new compact crossover, which will slot below Volkswagen Tiguan, and its official reveal date has already been set for October 13, 2020. Well, it will be coming to America only.

"We're excited to share the first glimpse of the newest member of the Volkswagen family," said Scott Keogh, president, and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America. "Great things come in small packages, as Volkswagen has proven throughout the years with its iconic Beetle, Golf and Jetta. This next car will be no exception."
In the dark teaser video, the crossover's headlamps are shining right at the camera, and it is tough to make out any details about the vehicle. But one thing is clear; the model will have a daytime running light bar that runs from the center of the grille where the classic 'V.W.' badge sits to the headlamps. This is somewhat we can see on the Kia Seltos.
But what will it be called? Volkswagen has not yet disclosed the name of the upcoming crossover. Talking about the guesses, it could be T-Roc as the V.W. sells a crossover smaller than Tiguan with this moniker in Europe. Another one is 'Tarek,' which comes from the brand's last year's presentation revealing its plans to sell a sub-Tiguan in Canada, the United States, and Mexico with this name. According to sources, Tarek is closely related to V.W. Tharu, which is currently available in China.
Volkswagen also filed a trademark "Taos" in the U.S. last year, this may be applied to the upcoming model, or Tiguan Sport is also possible.
The production of the upcoming small SUV is expected to start next year at the brand's Puebla, Mexico plant, where it also manufactures the Golf, Jetta, and Tiguan. And, it is likely to be on sale as a 2021 or 2022 model.
