Check out the leaked images of the Volkswagen ID.6 electric SUV
KUALA LUMPUR: It’s no secret that Volkswagen has another electric vehicle in the works, which is a part of the company’s ID.Series and based on the MEB platform, known as the Volkswagen ID.6. At the moment, the German automaker has only confirmed the seven-seater SUV for China, where it is expected to enter production soon.
Well, before any official glimpse of the SUV, here comes its leaked images. The photos of the upcoming Volkswagen ID.6 made their way to Reddit, which are reportedly made available by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
Based on the ID. Roomzz concept debuted at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show, the upcoming SUV looks familiar in the leaked photos as it shares the designing cues from the Volkswagen ID.4. However, it looks conventional than the sleek fascia seen in the concept model.
Comparing it with the ID.4, the big SUV features larger headlights, a different front fascia with a faux intake, a flatter beltline, and a larger cabin with rear quarter glass. The exterior design also flaunts a gently sloping roof, plastic body cladding, as well as flush-mounted door handles.
The documents accompanying the photos revealed that the Volkswagen ID.6 measures 4876 in length, 1,848 mm in width, 1,680 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2965 mm. This means it is 292 mm longer and has a 198 mm longer wheelbase as compared to the compact SUV.
Not only this, but the leak also reveals the technical details of the electric SUV, according to that the Volkswagen ID.6 will be powered by an electric motor producing a maximum power of 204 PS. The top speed is rated at 160 kmph.
Talking about its expected arrival, Volkswagen may introduce the full-size electric SUV later this year.
