Volkswagen Ceo Müller Announces New Action Plan Highlighting Five Key Steps To Follow
Kuala Lumpur/Wolfsburg: Looks like Volkswagen AG is pushing hard to come back on track as the German carmaker's new Chairman, Matthias Müller has come up with an all new action plan to restore Volkswagen's image on the global front. Matthias Müller has announced five key steps to be followed to ensure that Volkswagen still remains as one of the leading automobile manufacturers across the globe.
He said, “We have to look beyond the current situation and create the conditions for Volkswagen’s successful further development. Volkswagen will emerge from the current situation stronger than before”. He also announced that the cornerstones of the Group’s Strategy 2025 will be presented next year.
“Our customers are at the core of everything that our 600,000 employees worldwide do.”
The Volkswagen CEO said that the first and foremost priority for the company is to support and appease those customers that are affected by the diesel issue. According to him, the company is working in close associations to develop effective technical solutions for their customers.
“We must uncover the truth and learn from it.”
Müller said that the second step for the group is to systematically drive forward and complete the investigation into what happened and the company will take severe actions against those responsible for this. Volkswagen has assigned this major task to the well know data analysis audit firm, Deloitte.
“The key point is that Group management will be decentralized to a greater extent in the future.”
The third priority for the Volkswagen CEO will be to introduce new structures in the Volkswagen Group. Müller stated that the Board of Management will be decentralized to a greater extent in the future with more independence for the brands and regions so that the company's resources will be used effectively.
“We need a culture of openness and cooperation.”
The fourth step announced by Müller includes working on the realignment of the Group’s culture and management behavior. According to the Volkswagen CEO the company should learn how to believe in mistakes and handle it carefully with proper communication and cooperation. He further added that every employee should display more courage, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit to adapt to such changes.
“Many people outside of Volkswagen, but also some of us, did not understand that our Strategy 2018 is about much more than production numbers. A lot of things were subordinated to the desire to be “Faster, Higher, Larger”, especially return on sales.”
Lastly, He introduced the fifth priority for the company which involves a transformation of Volkswagen AG’s Strategy 2018 into a Strategy 2025.
Here in Malaysia, Mr. Armin Keller, Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Malaysia said, “We at Volkswagen Malaysia are completely aligned to Mr Muller’s visions and efforts. We will be reviewing on how to localize, adapt and implement core elements of the Global 2025 Strategy to Malaysia. That being said, our first priority remains regaining owner’s and Malaysians trust in the brand.”
