V167 Mercedes-Benz GLE300d CKD version available for sale in Thailand

KUALA LUMPUR: The CKD version of V167 Mercedes-Benz GLE300d is now available for sale in Thailand with a price tag of 5.19 million baht (RM 713k). This price tag marks a reduction of 870k baht (RM 120K) from its counterpart CBU, which was introduced earlier.

The new GLE features Mercedes-Benz’s Modular High Architecture (MHA) which focuses on the improvement of overall aspects of the vehicle. The 300d is powered by 2.0-litre diesel engine and produces power of 245hp along with a peak torque of up to 500Nm. The turbocharged four-cylinder engine comes mated with a 9-speed 9G-Tronic automated transmission that sprints from 0-100 km/h in 7.2 seconds, providing a maximum speed of 225 km/h.

In the Malaysian market, the GLE is available as a sole GLE 450 AMG variant. The vehicle gets a brand new M256 3.0-litre turbocharged engine, similar to the one in CLS 450. The straight-six comes mated to a similar 9-speed 9G-Tronic transmission system and generates a maximum power of 367hp and peak torque of up to 500Nm.

The GLE 450 features a more aggressive exterior kit with a rear diffuser that contains twin tailpipes along with Multibeam LED headlights and a night package with gloss black highlights. The interior of the car has been re-designed wholly and consists of twin 12.3-inches display, linked to the latest Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system.

However, the V167 is still not the most attractively priced SUV in its segment. it undercuts the G05 BMW X5 by 450k baht (RM 62k) but is overpriced by over 400k baht (RM 55k) than the Audi Q7 40 TDI.
