The Omoda 5 is the first product under the Chery 4.0 era that is helping the brand in attaining explosive growth in global markets. Malaysia will receive the SUV in the second quarter of the year as the first right-hand-drive market, confirmed Shawn Xu, president of the Chery ASEAN market and Vice President of Chery International.
The Chery Omoda 5 is a family-size crossover SUV that is assumed to be a rival of the Proton X50, Honda HR-V, and Toyota Corolla Cross in Malaysia. It measures 4,400 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, 1,585 mm in height, and spans a 2,630 mm long wheelbase.

Inside the cabin, it is kitted with two 12.3-inch displays, a three-spoke steering wheel, and plush-looking sports seats.
Speaking about the Chery Omoda powertrain, the SUV is offered in different specifications internationally, including a 1.5-litre turbo petrol, a 1.6-litre TGDi petrol, and a pure-electric. Of which, the local market is likely to get the 1.6-litre mill which kicks out a maximum power of 197 PS and a peak torque of 290 Nm. It comes paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
