UMW Toyota Nov 2022 sales report, upcoming models, new branding direction, and more
KUALA LUMPUR: After Proton and Perodua, UMW Toyota has also revealed its sales results for the month of November. The non-national car brand sold a total of 10,442 units (Toyota + Lexus) with a month-on-month growth of 12.5%.

UMW Toyota will launch several new models in 2023, including the new Vios, fully-electric bZ4X, and three GR models (GR Corolla, GR 86, and GR Supra).With this, the brand’s year-to-date sales reached 90,595 units, representing a 44% jump over the same period last year. Among the best-selling models of the brand are the Hilux, Fortuner, and Corolla Cross.
Upcoming models
The Japanese automaker proudly holds the tag of Malaysia's No.1 non-national automotive brand and aims to maintain it next year as well. Thus, it is geared to launch several new models in 2023, including the new Vios, fully-electric bZ4X, and three GR models.
Back in August, the fourth-gen Toyota Vios made its world debut with plenty of changes making it more desirable. The bZ4X, on the other hand, is the brand’s all-electric luxury SUV that was globally revealed in 2021, followed by the ASEAN debut in Thailand last month. The EV is based on the e-TNGA platform and promises a driving range of up to 500 km. Among the three upcoming GR models are - GR Corolla, GR 86, and GR Supra.
The automaker will also launch the second hybrid electric vehicle after the Corolla Cross Hybrid in 2023. According to UMWT President Ravindran K, “We believe there is no one-size-fits-all solution, and currently, Hybrid-Electric is the most viable way forward in achieving carbon neutrality.”
New branding direction
Intending to remain No.1, the brand has also transformed its branding in accord with its regional vision “Move Your World”.
“Move Your World is our realisation of a future mobility society, within our push to transition from an automobile company to a mobility company. Car ownership will be more convenient than ever, with delivery to your doorstep, holistic car maintenance assistance services, simpler ownership cost management, and much more. As society becomes more diverse, freedom of choice is increasingly more valuable, which is reflected in Toyota’s new offerings that include carbon-reducing Hybrid-Electric vehicles, carbon-neutral Battery-Electric vehicles, and performance GR models. We will be announcing further details on these new offerings in 2023, so stay tuned,” he said.
The company has also upgraded its website featuring a more customer-centric design and new user-friendly features and a modern interface. Among the new features are a search function, new branding pages, home page personalisation, and a preferred dealer setting.
Year-end deals
Toyota Malaysia has also rolled out exciting deals for the year-end celebration. It includes low monthly instalments starting from RM 498 for the Yaris and RM 598 for the Vios. There is also an additional RM 4,000 promotional offer on selected variants of both models.
