Toyota Prius Crossover: Turning to Reality?
Kuala Lumpur: Toyota recently unveiled its C-HR concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show, which was the latest version of its sportier hybrid crossover. The automaker has also confirmed its production version which would be previewed at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. This announcement was made by Karl Schlicht, the executive vice president for Toyota Motor Europe. In an interview, he had said “We want to add this to our lineup. We think it’s got fantastic potential here in Europe.” Now the speculations are being made of this concept being a pre-production 2016 Prius Crossover, as both of them feature a similar powertrain and battery.

This five-door car would be built on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform which is described as an 'integrated development program for vehicle platforms and powertrain concepts'. This platform aims to reduce weight, increase rigidity and improve the efficiency of this vehicle. It would also feature a new hybrid powertrain which would help to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Advancements would also be made to its electric motor and battery.
Going by the dimensions, this crossover would be sized smaller than the current RAV4 hybrid. The 2015 RAV4 measures 4570 mm long, 1844 mm wide and 1704 mm tall while the first CH-R concept measured 4343 mm long, 1849 mm wide and 1498 mm tall. It has got a diamond shaped design language along with aggressive front end and angular rear end. One can also notice revised headlamps and 21-inch alloy wheels along with a gloss black roof. Towards the side profile, it is designed with aggressive wheel arches and prominent character lines.
All these features hint towards a Toyota Prius Crossover. Although it is just a speculation, but we would definitely want it to turn into reality!!
