Toyota & Lexus had a strong sales run during first-half of 2022

KUALA LUMPUR: After Honda Malaysia, UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT) announced its sales report from January - July 2022. And as it was for its Japanese nemesis, Toyota Malaysia’s sales report showcased a strong H1 run.

In total, Toyota and Lexus combined sold 52,548 units which compared to the same period last year is a 48 percent increase (35,561 units). In July alone, the two brands sold 6,637 units which is divided between Toyota and Lexus as 6,624 and 13 units respectively.

The one model that stands out amongst the rest in Toyota’s lineup is the Hilux pickup with 1,788 units sold in July 2022 and became the best-seller in the segment. The pick-up truck has been retaining the title since 2005.
