Toyota launches the 2019 Vios in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Toyota showcased the 2019 Vios at the 2018 KLIMS (Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show), and it has now launched the B-segment sedan in Malaysia. The car comes with a brand new look along with a lot more equipment than its predecessor.

The vehicle’s front fascia is new but identical to the Yaris hatch. The headlights are now sharper, and the upper grille is slim. There is a large lower grille, which houses the LED daytime running lights. The vertically placed fog lights are also provided to aid with visibility during foggy conditions.

On the side profile, the front wheels and the rear deck are connected via new shoulder line. Moreover, there is another crease which makes the connection between the taillights and door handles. The broader and shapelier LED taillights help the car to create a broad appearance.

The vehicle comes with a similar setup like the Yaris. The steering wheel is taken from the Corolla Altis, and the protruding centre console resembles the Lexus NX.

The vehicle is powered by a four-cylinder, 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i mill, which can produce 107 PS of power at 6,000 rpm. The peak torque sticks at 140 Nm which occurs at 4,200 rpm. The power is sent to the wheels via a CVT seven-speed Shiftmatic.

2019 Toyota Vios standard variant comes with a lot of goodies. It includes reflector halogen headlights, keyless entry, 15-inch alloy wheels, fabric seats, push-button start, automatic air-conditioning, illuminated door sill scuff plates, drive mode switch with Eco and Sport modes, two rear USB ports, front footwell illumination, rear parking sensors, four speakers, and a CD/radio head unit with Bluetooth.

The all-new Toyota Vios is available in three variants. The base variant is 1.5J auto which carries a price tag of RM 77,200. The mid-range E variant has a price tag of RM 81,200, while the G variant is its top-end model with a price tag of RM 87,300.
