Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series gets Safety Upgrades, Aims at 5-Star ANCAP Rating
Kuala Lumpur: Toyota Land Cruiser 70-series would be receiving significant safety upgrades in the middle of next year. Toyota Australia said that these upgrades would help this car to increase its ANCAP safety rating from three stars to five stars. Whole 70-series range would be receiving these updates including LC79, LC76 Wagon and the LC78 Troop Carrier.

Improvements would include vehicle stability control, brake assist and cruise control. Apart from the standard driver and front passenger airbags, it would also gain curtain-shield and driver's knee airbags. Tony Cramb, Toyota Australia executive director sales and marketing said that these upgrades would secure the future of LandCruiser 70 Series for local customers.
He further added “These updates will support continued strong buyer demand for an unapologetically rugged vehicle that is renowned for its heavy-duty capabilities. We have worked closely with employers in mining, agriculture, construction, communications support and recreation to develop these improvements.Toyota’s commitment to them – as well as to the towns, rural communities and work sites where the LandCruiser’s reputation was born – will further cement the unique bond with customers forged over the past 30 years.”

Currently, the entire 4x4 range is powered by a 1VD-FTV 4.5-litre V8 turbodiesel engine which is further mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Since 1985, this range has evolved itself in many ways. It has been updated with turbodiesel engines, coil front springs and even with Bluetooth connectivity. The Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series model lineup is priced in the range of RM250,100 to RM289,600 plus on-road costs.
