KUALA LUMPUR: Toyota has expanded the Yaris Cross lineup in Europe by adding a new GR Sport variant to the list. Inspired by the achievements of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing, the latest model benefits from exclusive cosmetic tweaks inside and out along with a retuned suspension for sharper handling. The all-new 2022 Toyota Yaris Cross GR SPORT is likely to hit European roads later this year.Marking the unique identity of the new Yaris Cross GR Sport are sporty exterior touches, including
- An exclusive “hot stamp” piano black mesh pattern on the front grille with a distinct GR badging
- 18-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels sprayed with a bright machined finishing
- A new rear diffuser
- Scorched Orange and Dynamic Grey exterior shades with the optional contrast black roof and pillars available for the latter
As for the interior, the automaker offers front sports seats for the GR Sport variant trim, along with new grey upholstery incorporating red stitching. A similar kind of stitch job has also been added to the shift knob and the steering wheel. However, customers can also opt for Premium black perforated Ultrasuede upholstery with leather-like bolsters.
Also, parts of the exclusive kit are the GR SPORT-specific gunmetal silver trimmings for the doors and instrument panel. The GR logo is also positioned at headrests, combi meter, steering wheel, and start button screaming its distinct identity from all angles.
Premium features list of the new Yaris Cross GR Sport includes a 9.0-inch infotainment screen with Android Automotive and Apple CarPlay support, a kick-activated rear tailgate, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, rear privacy glass, and Toyota T-Mate advanced active safety and driver-assistance package.
The revised suspension tuning of the car features extra bracings in the center and rear, offering the driver improved steering, roll, and grip feel. Apart from that, the mechanical setup continues to be the same with a 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine mated to an electric motor delivering a maximum power of 116 hp.
The all-new 2022 Toyota Yaris Cross GR SPORT is expected to hit European roads later this year. Toyota is yet to disclose the pricing for the new trim.
