The all-new Audi R8 V10 is here, check details

KUALA LUMPUR: Audi has launched the brand-new R8 V10 Performance RWD in Europe. Termed as the loudest Audi, the R8 V10 was introduced two years ago and today we have a more powerful version to check out. Thus, making the entire R8 line-up a pack of 'performance' models (the R8 V10 quattro is discontinued).

Replacing the previous-gen RWD model, the new R8 V10 Performance RWD will be offered in both convertible and coupe body styles as before.

Let's get to the main part, the performance figures. Powering the new Audi R8 V10 is the Lamborghini-derived, mid-mounted, 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 engine. It generates a maximum power of 570 PS along with a peak torque of 550 Nm, a 30 PS and a 10 Nm hike over the previous figures. The power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed S Tronic dual-clutch transmission and mechanical limited-slip differential.

This setup enables the performance model to complete the century sprint in just 3.7 seconds (0.1 seconds more for the Spyder). The car attains a top speed of 329 kmph (2 kmph less for the Spyder).

Why is the Spyder slower? Well, it is all due to the additional weight it is carrying of the folding soft-top hardware. Figuratively speaking, it weighs 1,695 kg and the coupe 1,590 kg.

Audi's latest R8-lineup performance model gets an optional Dynamic steering system that offers an enhanced reaction and feedback while cornering and low-speed maneuver.

• 19-inch ceramic braking system
• A set of Cup tyres; 245/30 at the front and 305/30 at the rear
• Matte black finish grille
• Front splitter
• Oval tailpipes
• Rear outlet grid
• 10 body-colour options
• 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit digital instrument cluster
• Leather multi-function steering wheel

Audi is offering several optional kits as well, like the Edition package that includes red brake calipers, 20-inch bronze wheels, black badges, and carbon-fibre side blades. Also, on offer is the 'R8 performance' design kit with black Alcantara and leather upholstery with Mercato Blue stitching and carbon-fibre inlays.

New Audi R8 V10 performance RWD price

While the coupe version retails for 49,000 euros (RM 719,947), the R8 Spyder base price starts at 162,000 euros (RM 782,762).

Largely hand-built at Audi’s Böllinger Höfe in Neckarsulm, Germany, the R8 V10's ordering books will open from October 21.
