KUALA LUMPUR: The American EV giant Tesla has opened its first supercharging station in Melaka which not only contributes to the widespread adoption of Tesla electric vehicles but also solidifies the brand’s presence in the region. The new Tesla charging station is located at Freeport A’Famosa Outlet and operates 24 hours a day with a free parking facility.

    The key highlights of the new Tesla Supercharging station are - 

    • The station comprises a total of four Superchargers and one Destination Charger 
    • Each supercharger is capable of providing up to 250 kW of charging speeds with a charging rate of RM 1.25 per kWh  
    • An idle fee of up to RM 4 per minute will be applied when the station is fully occupied
    • Tesla Destination Charger, on the other hand, is currently free to use for Tesla EV owners until further notice

    Tesla Model 3

    • The integrated support for Tesla vehicles and the dedicated mobile app enable Tesla owners to navigate effortlessly, precondition the car's battery, and access the charging station
    • It also offers real-time monitoring of charger availability, charging status, payment status, and technical support
    • This is Tesla’s fourth live Supercharger station in Malaysia, and there are now a total of 20 Tesla Superchargers in the country

    Alongside expanding its supercharging network in the nation, the automaker will also bring the Tesla Wall Connector soon, which will provide convenient home charging to the owners at a rate of up to 71 km of range per hour, when using a 3-phase supply.
