Suzuki introduces its first electric vehicle, the eVX
KUALA LUMPUR: The Japanese marque Suzuki will not be lagging behind more in the EV segment as it has finally unveiled its first electric vehicle at the ongoing Auto Expo in India. The EV concept is named as the ‘eVX’ which stands for ‘Emotional Versatile Cruiser;’ it is a mid-size SUV that previews the brand’s commitment towards sustainable motoring.

The Suzuki eVX EV will come equipped with a 60-kWh battery pack offering a maximum range of around 550 km.Set to go on sale in 2025, Suzuki electric SUV measures 4300 mm in length, 1800 mm in width, and 1600 mm in height. The wheelbase is measured at 2,700 mm.
Design-wise, the EV looks rugged with a chunky skid plate on the front bumper paired with a gloss black strip connecting the V-shaped headlamps integrated with DRLs. Adding to the ruggedness are chunky wheel arches and additional side cladding with a silver garnish in the centre. At the rear also, we can spot the thick black cladding on the bumper and a silver skid plate. Also part of the kit is a sleek LED tail light bar and a roof spoiler.
When it comes to the powertrain, Suzuki confirmed that the upcoming eVX will utilise a dual electric motor setup and a four-wheel drive system. The e-motors will be fed by a 60-kWh battery pack offering a maximum range of around 550 km.
While revealing the eVX concept, Mr. Toshihiro Suzuki, Representative Director and President, Suzuki Motor Corporation, said, “Today, I have an exciting announcement. I am delighted to unveil the Concept eVX, our first global strategic EV. We plan to bring it to market by 2025.”
“At the Suzuki Group, addressing global warming is a priority. We are promoting a range of global measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions generated from our business. One key measure is reducing CO2 emitted by using our products. Here in India, as announced in March last year, we will invest 100 billion rupees in the production of BEVs and their batteries,” he added.
