Say hello to the Suzuki Misano, an electric four-wheeler superbike
KUALA LUMPUR: In collaboration with the Japanese automaker Suzuki, the students of the Master in Transportation Design at IED (Istituto Europeo di Design), Torino, Italy, have come up with a masterpiece concept, which they named ‘Suzuki Misano’. Basically, it is a futuristic two-seater electric roadster that features a design inspired by a superbike, but the fact is the design is prepared for the study purpose only, which means we are not going to see it on roads.
Named after an Italian racetrack, this amazing concept is the thesis project of the 24 students studying at the said institute. It has a combination of Suzuki's core values of lightness and compactness and Italian design. The concept took plenty of inspiration from a track-focused bike as we can observe its aerodynamic design, two-seat layout in tandem format, and a control stick instead of a conventional steering wheel. Due to the offset positioning of the seats, the Misano has enough space for a battery as well as luggage at the boot.
Dimensionally, this small roadster is 4 metres long, 1.75 metres wide and 1 metre tall. Its front end has a unique look with 'S' shaped headlights similar to the Suzuki logo. The tail lights also carry the same signature. On the left, there is a single door that has a glass panel to allow the driver to feel closer to the road. With an all-black theme, there are copper accents to the roll hoop behind the rear passenger and alloy wheels for a contrasting touch.
As far as the Suzuki Misano powertrain is concerned, there are no details as we mentioned earlier that it is not going to enter production. But you can still check that out in person. How? The concept will be on showcase at the Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile di Torino, Italy from May 15 to June 6.
“Thanks to the collaboration between IED and the brand Suzuki, a new concept vehicle was created looking both at the compact car and motorcycle Suzuki’s manufacturing,” said Kimihiko Nakada, Suzuki Design Center Director. He further added, “Misano is a thesis born out of the passion of young designers and developed as a project in a design center to offer the next generation a new lifestyle experience”.
