Subaru WRX S4 STI Sport #, a Japan-only limited-edition WRX
KUALA LUMPUR: The symbol # means different things for people from different countries, age groups, and interest areas. It can be associated with weight, number, telephone, plain old hashtag, or sharp for musically inclined individuals. Subaru decided to include the # symbol in its latest limited-edition car, and it hints towards the car's sharpness over the model it is based on, the WRX S4 STI Sport.
It is to be noted that the latest limited-edition Subaru model is a standard WRX and not a full-beans WRX-STI. What's the difference? It is the STI Sport tag indicating Subaru Tecnica International's input in the vehicle's development. Coming back to the # model, Subaru has manufactured 500 units, all of which are reversed. Priced at 4.741 million yen ( approx RM 188,554), it is 572,000 yen (around RM 22,749) costlier than the regular WRX S4 STI Sport model.
Its under the hood configuration remains the same as the WRX S4 STI Sport, as the limited-edition model features FA20 2.0-litre 4-CYL turbo engine developing 300 PS at 5600 rpm and 400 Nm at 2000 to 4800 rpm. It also gets the same Limearttonic CVT system.
The Subaru limited-edition model showcases a keener edge, thanks to three STI components - flexible draw stiffeners for front and rear, and flexible front tower bar.
