Subaru Levorg prototype teased ahead of Tokyo debut
KUALA LUMPUR: The Japanese automobile manufacturer has teased the Levorg prototype ahead of its official debut, scheduled at next month's Tokyo motor show.
According to the reports, the new wagon will be showcased as a concept, but it might resemble the look of the second generation model. Most interestingly, it will be returning to the Tokyo Motor Show, and it's the exact same place where it made its world premiere almost six years ago. Also, it will be revealed in the thinly-veiled Prototype form first as it was done earlier.
Talking about the platform, it is likely to be based on the fifth-generation Impreza. It is mounted on the Subaru Global Platform and also utilises the same running equipment. However, the teaser image reveals that it will have entirely nonidentical sheet metal, which is influenced by the Viziv Tourer Concept. Also, Levorg will flaunt a bold, upswept shoulder line instead of the scalloped side profile that can be found on the Impreza.
The powertrain is not confirmed yet, but it is likely to come equipped with a pair of downsized turbocharged flat-four mills. One of them can be a 1.5-litre motor producing a maximum power of 148 hp, and the other one can be a 1.8-litre engine churning out a 266 hp of maximum power. The transmission duties will certainly be performed by the Lineartronic CVT gearbox. Also, it is likely to feature all-wheel-drive system.
According to the carmaker, the car will feature all the latest technology and offer "a future that everyone can enjoy driving at the full, at their will."
Other vehicles that will also be showcased in Tokyo are XV Advance, facelifted Impreza Sport 2.0i-S, and VIZIV Adrenaline Concept.
