Spyshot Video: 2016 Proton Perdana
Kuala Lumpur: Proton Perdana 2016 model has been spotted again on the roads of Malaysia for testing adorned with heavy camouflage. This time, the spy video and pictures have been taken by Yong Roni.
The image of Proton Perdana showcases a striking layout of the vehicle with broad C-pillars and the shallower angle for its rear glass house. The front facade of the car shows Proton's familiar design DNA. It's hard to get a clear idea about the rear end features. Making a guess, the exhaust outlet is likely to appear integrated with the rear bumper, which is a first for a Proton. The LED brake lights is a considerable distinctive feature of the car that differs from the slower bulb-type lighting.
As reported earlier, the new civilian-market flagship for the national carmaker will still be based on the eighth-generation Honda Accord. But, it will have its own distinctive design and not just be a rebadging exercise for the current model that is being reserved for exclusive use by the government.

Earlier, Proton had acquired Petrona's engine technologies for RM63 million in 2012, which consisted of direct injection, turbo direct injection tech and related patents. So you can expect the Perdana to be launched with these powertrains or continue using the Honda Accord's 2.0-litre and 2,4-litre i-VTEC petrol engines if the new Proton Petrona's engine is not ready by then. Further, it would be mated with a five-speed automatic transmission. This car would serve as national automaker's flagship product, which would help uplift the budget brand image that Proton has in Malaysia. Stay tuned with us to keep on receiving more updates on the Protos Perdana 2016.
