Smart Malaysia launches three DC fast charging stations

KUALA LUMPUR: Ahead of the smart #1 EV launch, smart Malaysia is taking proactive steps to create an efficient charging network in the country. The company has recently launched new high-powered DC fast charging stations at three dealership outlets -  smart Glenmarie, smart Ipoh, and smart Penang.

smart Glenmarie (EON Berhad) and smart Ipoh (GB Auto) have been equipped with 60kW DC charging stations, which are set to play a crucial role in the expanding EV ecosystem in central locations. smart Penang (Eleganz Lifestyle) gets a 120 kW unit, which sets a new benchmark for the island. It is conveniently located just 5 minutes away from Georgetown, ensuring easy accessibility for those seeking a rapid recharge.

The automaker will launch more DC charging stations at four dealerships by the end of the year, including smart Alor Setar (Lee Motors), smart Setia Alam (Wheelcorp EV), smart Johor Bahru (Motor Future), and smart Melaka (Sigma Energy EV). The charging capacities will range between 50 kW and 120 kW.

“The deployment of these high-powered DC charging stations at smart outlets across the country underscores smart Malaysia's unwavering dedication to delivering fast and efficient charging solutions, soon to be accessible to the public. This initiative also complements and contributes to the high-powered charging stations nationwide, in addition to existing chargers available through partners such as ChargeEV, Gentari, and JomCharge, further expanding access to the general public,” stated the official press release.

The nationwide showcase of the smart #1 BRABUS and Premium is currently underway in Malaysia. The schedule is as follows -
