Smart #1 Brabus performance EV made a grand debut in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The German EV brand “smart Automobile” is set to introduce its first electric car, the smart #1, soon in Malaysia. Ahead of the official launch slated for later this year, the automaker has previewed the high-performance variant of the EV, the smart #1 Brabus, at the International Electric Mobility Showcase (IEMS). 

The car will remain on display at Hall 5, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from October 4th to 6th, 2023, between 9 AM and 6 PM.

The smart # lineup includes three variants - Pro, Premium, and Brabus, estimated price between RM 200,000 and RM 250,000.

The high-performance version of the EV comes equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup that is tuned to deliver a maximum power of 428 PS and a peak torque of 543 Nm. This allows the EV to run from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.9 seconds only and clock a top speed of 180 kmph. For the sake of comparison, the Pro/Premium trims are powered by a 272 PS/343 Nm RWD electric motor and complete the century sprint in 6.7 seconds. 

The dual-motor setup of the smart #1 Brabus is fed by a 66kWh NMC battery, offering a WTLP-claimed driving range of 400 km on a single charge.

The top-spec Brabus version further sets itself apart from the Pro and Premium models with the following features - 

• Brabus aero kit, including hood 'nostrils,' a bold front bumper with an integrated lip, and an extended rear spoiler
• Red exterior accents on the front as well as rear 
• 19-inch ‘Dynamo’ two-tone items paired with red brake callipers
• Brabus emblems

The list of exclusive exterior dual-tone options includes - 

• Atom Grey Matte, Meta Black, and Cyber Silver with Radiant Red roof 
• Digital White, Laser Red, and Cyber Silver with a Black roof
• Atom Grey Matte with an exclusive matte body-coloured roof

Inside, the top-spec variant sports a 'BRABUS' interior with a grey/red theme, microfibre seat upholstery, red stitching, red seat belts, 'B' embossed on the headrests, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Equipment kit remains the same as the Premium variant and includes - CyberSparks Matrix LED headlamps, sequential turn signals, a panoramic roof, a powered tailgate with hands-free access, a 9.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch head-up display, a 12.8-inch infotainment unit, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, dual-zone automatic climate control, powered front seats with heating and ventilation function, and 64-color ambient lighting.

Interested folks can now book the smart #1 via the Hello smart app available on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Huawei App Gallery. The first 501 bookings are entitled to get free charging credits worth RM 1,001 upon delivery of the EV.
