Singer's Porsche 911 DLS to make an appearance at 2021 Goodwood FoS
KUALA LUMPUR: Back in June, we saw a restored version of the iconic 964-generation of the Porsche 911, created by a U.K.-based company Everrati. And now, here we have two new restored 964-era Porsche 911 in front of us, which are curated by the Californian firm Singer. These stunning models are all set to grab the attention of visitors at the 2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed later this week.
The company showcased its first customer example of the Porsche 911 Dynamics & Lightweighting Study (DLS) back in April, i.e. three years after the reimagined 964 911 first previewed at the 2018 Goodwood FoS. The singer collaborated with Williams Advanced Engineering to create this air-cooled Porsche Type 964 restomod.
After taking the first customer car for a spin, Singer's founder and executive chairman, Rob Dickinson stated, "What a fantastic experience! The towering team of talented heroes we managed to assemble for the Dynamics and Lightweighting Study has produced an astonishing result - the car is simply extraordinary."
Under the bonnet, Singer's Porsche 911 DLS models are fitted with a unique 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six engine that churns out a maximum power output of 500 hp at 9,000 rpms. Contributing to the dynamic performance are aero-optimized carbon fibre bodywork and extensive lightweight strategy. These include satin carbon accents, exclusive Tartan seat centres, carbon-fibre seats, and more. Singer also added new Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes to the kit providing improved stopping power.
Along with increasing the engine and braking performance, the automaker also made changes to the chassis, which resulted in Singer-style looks. The new car significantly looks more modern.
The Singer has confirmed that it will make only 75 examples of the Porsche 911 DLS, each costing $1.8 million (approximately equal to RM 7,527,274). It has received a record number of orders over the last year despite the events being halted due to the COVID-19, which it expects to complete in the next few months.
