Say hello to Honda’s new electric SUV, the e:Ny1

KUALA LUMPUR: In a recently held media event in Europe, Honda pulled the wraps of its second fully-electric car, called the Honda e:Ny1. It is a B-segment electric SUV based on the company’s newly-developed e:N Architecture F platform and features a design similar to the ICE-powered Honda HR-V

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What is the range of the Honda e:Ny1?

Equipped with a 68.8 kWh battery pack, the Honda e:Ny1 offers a range of 412 km (on the WLTP cycle) on a single charge.
  • What is the new identity for Honda EVs?

The white “H” badges around the vehicle and a new “Honda” typeface logo on the rear form a new identity for Honda EVs.
  • Let’s get into the details to know the new Honda EV in a better way.

The Honda e:Ny1 is powered by a single electric motor that delivers a maximum power of 204 hp and a peak torque of 310 Nm. The motor is fed by a 68.8 kWh battery pack offering a range of 412 km (on the WLTP cycle) on a single charge. The EV supports both AC and DC charging; the latter provides 10 to 80% SoC in just 45 minutes.

Design-wise, the EV boasts a bold and sophisticated exterior aesthetic with a short front overhang, a wide track, and large wheels. The front features a closed aerodynamic stance with a panel for the charging port. Honda has positioned white “H” badges around the vehicle and a new “Honda” typeface logo on the rear. The white badges form a new identity for Honda EVs, just like blue for hybrids and red for the Type R.

The key interior inclusions of the all-new Honda e:Ny1 are -

    • 15.1-inch portrait-styled touchscreen infotainment unit
    • A newly-designed central stack with a simple and modern layout
    • Wireless charging
    • White “H” badge on the steering wheel
    • Fully-digital floating instrument cluster
    • Electronic gear selector
    • Multiple storage options
    • Large sunroof

Also, the EV promises a remarkable interior space and comfort with clever packaging of the electric drivetrain components.

“The e:Ny1 is the logical next step on our electrification journey in Europe,” said Tom Gardner, Senior Vice President at Honda Motor Europe Ltd. “Our development philosophy blends intelligent, customer-centric technology with beautiful design and fun-to-drive dynamics. This latest SUV exemplifies Honda’s commitment to electrification and is the latest step on Honda’s electrification journey.”

The deliveries of the new Honda e:Ny1 will commence in Europe later this year.
