KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian auto market has all the reasons to smile, as it will soon get a new premium electric vehicle from Lotus. Called the Eletre, the EV is now open for registration and is estimated to cost RM 630,000.

In Malaysia, the Eletre EV is expected to be available in a single, range-topping Eletre R version.Lous first introduced the Eletre EV last year in March with details released in October. Tagged as the brand’s first SUV, in the UK and European market it is offered in three trim options, namely - the Eletre, Eletre S, and Eletre R.

In Malaysia, the Eletre EV is expected to be available in a single, range-topping Eletre R version which is known to complete the century sprint in just 2.95 seconds.
The Lotus Eletre R is powered by a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup that generates a low power and torque output.
As for the Eletre S and Eletre, on the other hand, the e-motor on them makes 603 hp and 710 Nm of torque. Paired with a single-speed gearbox, these trims touch the 100 kmph mark in 4.5 seconds.
What remains common is a 112 kW battery that offers a range of 600 km and 490 km in the Eletre S and Eletre & Eletre R, respectively.
The company doesn’t reveal much of its charging specs, but the 112 kWh battery will charge from 10 to 80% in just 20 minutes with DC fast charging.
