RM 17K raised for Sarawak Charities by team Isuzu
KUALA LUMPUR: CEO of Isuzu Malaysia, Koji Nakamura alongside other team members participated in the Sarawak Charities 2019 to raise an enormous sum of RM17K for the Hope Place Kuching and Persatuan OKU Kuching. Although the automobile companies stick to their end of business usually, they do find time to participate in activities for the welfare of society. The mock cheques were Kelvin Wan Kwong Wei, on behalf of the Hope Place Kuching, while Shen Chiu Hsian, the founder of Persatuan OKU Kuching received the mock cheques on behalf of his foundation.
The team of Isuzu Motors comprised of their management staff, Kenkichi Sogo (General Manager), Masayuki Suzuki (COO), Sean Sin (Senior Manager), and Andrew Lam (Manager) as well as personnel from Media. The members ran different lengths, starting from 5 km to 42 km to raise funds for the charitable cause.
“When the idea was floated in the office for us to run in the Kuching Marathon as a means of raising funds for charity, everyone unanimously agreed without hesitation. We are all eager to participate and do our part to raise funds for the local charities. I hope to be able to complete the 10km that I have entered,” remarked Mr Nakamura. He also added that it was a tremendous effort by the team to raise funds for charity. He said: “I am grateful to everyone who contributed to the success of this, particularly members of the media who have been extremely supportive of the cause,” while talking to the media.
The funds that were raised in the Sarawak marathon were raised partially by the oath taken by the automobile companies present. It included names such as the Dai Max Automobile, KM Mobil and Rhino Motors. They were represented in the pledge by Tiong Ung Hung, Tan Kim Hoon, and Amy Lim, respectively.
The Sarawak Marathon was inaugurated in 2014, with a full marathon of 42 km, half marathon of 21 km, runs of 10 and 5 km. The routes go through the picturesque Waterfront, the Fort, Astana, the cat statues, Tua Pek Kong and of course, Kuching’s most iconic building, the DUN. It has also been recognized as an international road race by International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).
