Ranger and Fiesta, Ford Malaysia's top selling champions of third Quarter

Kuala Lumpur: Ford Malaysia has recently announced its retail sales in Malaysia, which was recorded to be of 844 units, among which the major share was driven by the heavily demanded Ford Ranger and Ford Fiesta.

The Q1 and Q2 were not so good for the American manufacturer as a result of the GST implementation and falling ringgit although the September result helped drive Q3 sales up 34% from the previous quarter to 2,691 units, as the Ford brand continues to gain momentum.

The major player in driving Ford's sale up this quarter was the class-defining Ranger pickup which continues to be the best-selling nameplate of Ford in Malaysia. According to the sales data released by the company, the Ford Ranger set a record retail sale of 643 units this quarter in September. Q3 Ranger sales jumped 51% from the previous quarter to 1,993 units, whereas the year-to-date Ranger sales have now risen 14% to 6,814 units.

The major reason behind the popularity of Ford Ranger in Malaysia lies within the practicality of this all terrain vehicle. Apart from the Ford Ranger another major player for the Ford Malaysia this time was the Ford Fiesta. The sporty Fiesta contributed sales of 95 units in September, helping drive third quarter sales up 33% from the previous quarter to 322 units.
