Proton X50 R3 20th Anniversary Edition launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Proton has launched the all-new X50 R3 20th Anniversary Edition in Malaysia. The special edition X50 is based on the top-spec 1.5 TGDi Flagship variant and is limited to just 200 units. The 2023 Proton X50 R3 Edition price tag reads RM 125,300 (on the road without insurance).

The key highlights of the Proton X50 R3 Edition are as follows - 

• The car is developed by the motorsport and performance division of Proton called R3, which stands for "Race. Rally. Research"
• The R3 version of the Proton’s best-selling SUV features a satin black vinyl wrap along with yellow accents all around its bottom

• It also comes with several R3-branded items, including R3 aero kit (front, rear, and side skirts), R3 bonnet stripe, R3 18-inch lightweight alloy wheels, R3 embroidery on the headrest of front seats, and R3 carpet mats

• Further confirming the identity of this special edition X50 are the R3 logo on the front grille and the R3 limited edition nameplate on the boot lid and interior dash
• Also part of the kit is a sporty rear roof spoiler and window tint

• Under the bonnet lies the same 1.5-litre inline-3 TGDI engine available on the Flagship variant. The said mill is capable of generating a maximum power of 177 hp and a peak torque of 255 Nm
• The power is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission
