Proton to Initiate Price Hike upto RM2K effective from February 15

Kuala Lumpur: This news might be very dreadful for the Proton fans at the start of this new year. As following the earlier announcement made by Proton in early December, our very own National carmaker has confirmed the price hike in Malaysia on its vehicles upto RM2K effective from 15th February 2016. The minimum touted hike is RM312 and can go maximum upto RM2,021, depending on the models.

Falling-ringgit-

The car price increase in Malaysia is not a deliberate issue, as it has become a common situation in the automotive industry to raise the price so as to compensate the effect of the falling Ringgit. Proton has been striving hard since August 2015 to mitigate the loss of weakening ringgit and its effect on the consumers. The local car-maker has tried all ways to reduce the operational costs and rationalizing operations where necessary. Despite these efforts, it looks like Ringgit’s 20% depreciation in such a short period can no longer allow Proton to maintain its prices.

Proton is not the only brand to announce such price hikes, several other carmakers have also announced price rise from the year 2016 due to the weakening Ringgit. This includes major brands like Honda Malaysia, Nissan (ETCM), UMW Toyota Motors and Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia. Also there are some munificent manufacturers that will not be increasing the prices and will absorb the impact of falling economy considering their meager market share in Malaysian automotive industry. These brands includes Ford Malaysia, Volkswagen Malaysia, TC Euro Cars Malaysia (Renault), Bermaz Motors (Mazda) and Mercedes Benz Malaysia.

Proton has also announced that the price hike will be effective on all of its model line-up including the six models namely – Proton Saga, Proton Persona, Proton Preve, Proton Suprima S, Proton Iriz and the Proton Exora SUV. Thus if you are planning to bring home a Proton car we advise you to visit a Proton Edar dealership as soon as possible. Because to placate it's enraged fans over price hike and considering the economic uncertainties in 2016 Proton has initiated unique offers and promotions as a part of it's “It's in a Drive” campaign. Proton cars are being offered at an interest rate of 2.8 percent along with a special graduate scheme for the fresh graduates, that entails a monthly installment of just RM258 a month. Apart from this, Proton is also offering huge rebates up to RM3,000 via the Loyalty Reward programme and further rebates upto RM6,200 rebates on selected 2015 models. To satiate the needs of a valuable customer further, Proton is also offering a free 30-point inspection at all Proton authorized service centers along with 20% discounts on selected parts of the car as a part of its CNY Celebrations.

Just to remind, the price hike is effective from 15th February and Valentine's Day is on 14th, so grab the best gift for your lover before the offers expire and the prices increase.

His childhood craving for the cars started with Hot wheels toys which led him to create pseudo cars on his own.
