Proton S70 sedan bags 400 bookings in first week

KUALA LUMPUR: The customer preview sessions of the Proton S70 are set to begin in major Malaysian state capitals from tomorrow i.e.  November 11, 2023. Well, ahead of that, here comes an important update on the bookings of the upcoming Proton sedan. 

Proton's Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Roslan Abdullah, shared with the media during the visit of Chinese Vice President Han Zheng to the company's Tanjung Malim facility yesterday that a total of 400 bookings for the Proton S70 have been received since the opening of the order books.  

Roslan further mentioned the company has a target of selling 2000 units of the Proton S70 per month. 

According to Proton CEO Li Chunrong, “The Proton S70 marks a new chapter for Proton as we return to the family sedan market with a model that is the next step in the evolution of our offerings.”

As a quick recap, the upcoming Proton S70 is a rebadged version of the fourth-generation Geely Emgrand. It is based on the B-segment Modular Architecture (BMA) platform, independently developed by Geely. The sedan measures 4,638 mm in length, 1,822 mm in width, 1,460 mm in height, and carries a wheelbase of 2,650 mm. 

In terms of design, the Proton S70 looks stylish and dynamic with a distinctive grille featuring an insert decorated with chrome pins, LED projector headlamps, full-width LED tail lights bar, a sunroof, and 17-inch 10-spoke wheels. The car will come equipped with a wide touchscreen infotainment system and the latest safety technology.

Under the hood of the upcoming Proton S70 will sit a 1.5-litre turbo engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, as confirmed by the automaker.

Interested folks can book the sedan at any authorised Proton dealership by paying a RM 500 deposit.
