Proton S70 launched in Malaysia, check full details

KUALA LUMPUR: After the huge success of the X90 MPV, Proton has now introduced its second new model of this year, called the S70. The Proton S70 is a rebadged version of the Geely Emgrand that is offered in four variants - Executive, Premium, Flagship, and Flagship X. Let’s dive into the full details of the new Proton sedan -

Included in the price is a 5-year/unlimited mileage warranty against manufacturing defects with 6 times free labour during service.

Proton S70 engine specifications 

All the variants of the sedan are powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder MPI engine that kicks out a maximum power of 150 PS and a peak torque of 226 Nm. The power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Proton S70 dimensions 

Based on Geely’s B-segment Modular Architecture (BMA) platform, the new Proton sedan measures 4,602 mm in length, 1,809 mm in width, and 1,466 mm in height and spans a wheelbase of 2,627 mm.

The car looks almost the same as the Emgrand, however, it gets a few Proton-specific touches that set it apart from the donor model. The front carries a distinctive neat grille with pins and blackened side edges and Proton’s new round tiger badge in the middle. It also boasts projector headlights with triple LED daytime running lights and a strong shoulder line. Towards the rear, we can find full-width tail lights featuring N-shaped graphics as well as the distinctive script.

The Executive and Premium trims feature 16-inch alloy wheels while the Flagship trims come fitted with 17-inch units.

The standard safety of the new Proton S70 comprises six airbags, Lane Change Assist, Rear Collision Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Door Opening Warning. The Premium trim adds front parking sensors and a reverse camera.

With the Flagship and Flagship X variants, buyers also get advanced driver-assistance bits such as Autonomous Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Intelligent Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Lane Centering Control, Traffic Sign Information, and Intelligent High Beam Control.
