Proton opens up a new Regional Parts Centre in East Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: To cater to the needs of its customers and dealers in East Malaysia, Proton has launched its new regional parts centre (RPC) in the region. Located at the Bintawa Industrial centre in Kuching, Sarawak, the new centre will not function as a parts distribution centre in the state but for Sabah as well.

Proton’s new regional parts centre can receive up to six containers of parts on-site simultaneously. It can process 17 containers per month on average and can store up to three months of stock at its full capacity.The new RPC facility is a part of the company’s efforts to offer quick after-sales service while delivering the highest levels of customer satisfaction. Its operational capabilities include -
- Speeded over an area of 28,000 sq ft, the facility can receive up to six containers of parts on-site simultaneously
- It can process 17 containers per month on average and can store up to three months of stock at its full capacity
- The centre can reduce the lead time for after-sales parts and components delivery by at least 30%
- With the added space, the delivery capacity will increase by 50%, taking the monthly order fulfilment from 3,000 to 4,500. The capacity can be expanded further up to 6,000 orders per month as needed
“With increasing customer demand over the last four years, Proton’s previous warehouse facilities in East Malaysia were overflowing with parts and running inefficiently due to space limitations. The new regional parts centre in Kuching is three times larger than its predecessor and will function as a parts distribution centre for after-sales parts and components for Sarawak as well as Sabah if the need arises,” said Roslan Abdullah, deputy CEO of Proton.
The brand’s sales in East Malaysia has been growing continuously with market share increased from 10% in 2018 to 20% in 2022. Last year, regional sales accounted for 15% of the company’s total sales volume. The Saga remains the most popular model with 10,242 deliveries, followed by the X50 and Persona chipping in 4,181 and 2,605 units, respectively.
