Despite the updates to the Proton X70, which according to Proton is valued above RM13k, including a refreshed exterior, headlights, and enhanced interior features, Proton Cars has made the strategic decision to keep the pricing in line with that of the outgoing model. The only exception is the now-discontinued PREMIUM X 2WD 1.8 TGDi variant. The updated pricing structure is as follows:
- Standard - RM98,800
- Executive - RM110,800
- Premium - RM123,800

A Fresh, Aggressive Exterior
The 2025 X70 facelift makes a bold statement with its redesigned exterior. The new grille, featuring Proton’s Infinite Weave design with intricate songket diamond details, is the most striking change, giving the front end a more commanding presence. The full-LED reflector headlights have been slimmed down, and the redesigned bumper further sharpens the SUV’s look. A reshaped hood with two prominent spines adds to the vehicle’s dynamic and contemporary appearance.
The rear of the X70 has also received attention, with a new bumper design that includes horizontal reflectors and faux air outlets, creating the impression of a wider stance. This design, unique to Proton, distinguishes the X70 from its Geely counterpart. New two-tone alloy wheels—19-inch for the Premium and Premium X variants and 18-inch for the Executive trim—complete the exterior overhaul.
Elevated Interior Comfort and Style
Inside the cabin, Proton has introduced several luxury touches to enhance comfort and style. The Stone Grey Nappa leather seats, with a new stitching pattern on the door panels, set a premium tone.
The redesigned dashboard features a gloss black finish, accented by 72-colour rhythmic ambient lighting that adapts to the music, creating an immersive environment. Unfortunately, the most prominent part of the X70's ambient lighting is at the dash, but hey at least it looks nice and fresh.
A standout feature in the interior is the new 12.3-inch floating infotainment screen, powered by the Atlas 2.0 system. For the first time in a Proton, this system includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ensuring seamless connectivity for smartphone users. While these features will be activated via a free OTA update post-launch, the hardware upgrades, including USB-C ports and improved infotainment processing power, are available from day one.
Additionally, the X70 now features Proton’s latest three-spoke steering wheel, a design shared with the X50 and S70 models. While the 7.0-inch digital meter panel remains the same size, it has been refreshed with new, more contemporary graphics borrowed from the X90 and S70, giving it a sleeker appearance. The fuel and temperature gauges flanking the screen have also been updated, and the audio system continues to offer six speakers across all variants.
Enhanced Safety and Driver Assistance
Proton has also made significant advancements in safety with the 2025 X70 facelift. The upgraded ADAS Level 2 system now includes features like stop-and-go adaptive cruise control, lane centering assist, and traffic sign recognition. These semi-autonomous driving aids are available on the Premium and Premium X variants, continuing Proton’s strategy of offering advanced technologies on its top-tier models.
The X70 also gains practical new features, such as proximity-based locking and unlocking, along with a Nearby Auto Open hands-free tailgate. These additions make daily driving and tasks like loading the boot easier and more convenient.
Performance and Fuel Efficiency
Underneath its refreshed exterior, the 2025 X70 retains its 1.5-litre turbocharged TGDi three-cylinder engine, delivering 177 PS and 255 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an updated seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission that drives the front wheels across all variants. Proton has improved fuel efficiency, with the new model boasting a 4% reduction in consumption, now rated at 7.3 litres/ 100 km, thanks to enhancements in combustion efficiency and thermal management.

Proton is now accepting orders for the 2025 X70, with a RM 500 deposit securing a reservation.
