Proton HQ gets a new DC fast charger ahead of smart #1 EV launch
KUALA LUMPUR: In collaboration with clean energy solutions company Gentari Sdn Bhd, Proton has recently launched a 100 kWh DC fast charger at its Centre of Excellence (CoE) headquarters. The charger is conveniently positioned in the customer parking area of the Proton Crystal showroom.

Upon the installation of the new charging station, Roslan Abdullah, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Proton said, “With our imminent entry into Malaysia’s EV market via smart Malaysia just around the corner, the time is right for PROTON to take another step into this rapidly growing segment. Gentari and PRO-NET (Proton’s subsidiary) have been working together to strengthen Malaysia's charging network since signing an MoU in October last year. This involves a partnership with Proton Global Services, Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd, and other collaborators to create a proof-of-concept for a mobile EV charging solution using the Proton Exora. The companies are currently testing three units of 30 kW mobile charger concepts.
PRO-NET and Gentari have also collaborated to install more fast chargers at Proton dealerships. Five Gentari DC chargers will be installed by the end of the year, with a target of twenty.
Proton further confirmed that ahead of the imminent launch of the smart #1, DC chargers from other providers will be installed at four smart Malaysia dealerships.

“PROTON has committed to producing our own EV models, a process started by the launch of the mild-hybrid Proton X90, our first new energy vehicle (NEV). This will be followed by more models featuring hybrid technology in the coming years.
“At the same time, we are collaborating with our partners to grow the national charging infrastructure and support our customers. Additionally, we are using connected apps such as the recently launched Hello smart app, which opens access to 70% of the national charging map, to offer convenience to smart owners,” added Roslan Abdullah.
