PROTON faces high demand for 2024 Proton X50 with over 8,000 bookings in one month

KUALA LUMPUR:  PROTON's newly-launched 2024 Proton X50 has received an overwhelming response, racking up 8,000 bookings within just one month since its debut in June. This surge in demand has surpassed expectations, setting a new benchmark in its segment says Proton. Since its original launch in 2020, the Proton X50 has been Malaysia's best-selling SUV, with 115,262 units sold up to June.

    Production Increase to Meet Demand

    The strong reception of the 2024 Proton X50 highlights its significant position in the SUV market. To address the high demand, PROTON is increasing production to expedite deliveries by August 2024. Customers eligible for the early bird promotion will receive a RM7,000 cash discount and RM1,000/RM1,500 trade-in support.

    Enhanced Features Drive Demand

    Customers are drawn to the 2024 Proton X50 for its enhanced comfort, performance, and value. The new NVH package improves over 20 areas for better road noise insulation, creating a quieter interior. Additionally, the power tailgate added to the Premium and Flagship variants offers ease of operation.

    The upgraded 10.3” infotainment head unit (IHU) features a new dual quad-core processor unit, providing faster bootup speed and loading time. This allows seamless operation of multiple apps, enhancing the user experience. The IHU also includes the popular “Hi PROTON” voice command and PROTON Link app, enabling remote engine start and cabin cooling.

    One of the most discussed enhancements on social media is the 360-degree camera, which offers exceptional clarity even in low-light conditions, making parking easier. Test drive videos have highlighted the 3D display that integrates a blind spot monitoring system, enhancing safety and awareness while cruising at speeds up to 150 km/h.

    The Proton X50 continues to feature the same robust powertrain, equipped with a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine delivering 150 PS and 226 Nm of torque in the Standard, Executive, and Premium variants. The flagship model, however, boasts an upgrated 1.5-litre TGDi engine, producing 177 PS and 255 Nm of torque. All engines are paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that includes a manual mode for enhanced driving control.

    In celebration of Proton’s 5 millionth production milestone, the company has rolled out promotional packages for other models, including a cash rebate of RM500 for the Proton Saga, RM7,000 for the Proton X70, and a free 2-year service maintenance for the Proton X90. Additionally, a 'no purchase obligation Test Drive and Win' event has been introduced at Proton showrooms nationwide.
