    Proton has allocated RM 250,000 to those affected by the incident, including those sheltered at temporary evacuation centres (PPS) such as Dewan Masjid Putra Heights and Subang Jaya City Council’s multi-purpose hall, Dewan Camelia.

    Proton has announced the free inspection for all the affected Proton cars at its six service centres located in the vicinity. The designated centres will thoroughly analyze the vehicles affected by the fire and help customers with insurance claims based on the severity of the damage. 

    The automaker ensures that vehicle owners have a clear pathway for repair and restoration. Whether the vehicle was at the scene or moved during the incident, customers will receive comprehensive service and insurance claim assistance and get their entitled benefits.

    Proton extends its deepest sympathies to all those affected by this tragedy and reaffirms its dedication to supporting the community’s recovery efforts. 

    “The devastation caused by the fire in Putra Harmoni is deeply concerning, and we are committed to providing meaningful support to the affected community. We hope that this financial aid will provide some relief to those who are suffering,” Li Chunrong, Chief Executive Officer, Proton.  

    The Putra Heights gas pipeline fire incident occurred on the morning of April 1, 2025. Cited police Chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat, media reports stated that the fire was triggered by a gas pipeline rupture, which engulfed a 500-meter stretch. It caused extensive damage - 

    • 235 premises, with 87 homes completely destroyed 
    • 399 vehicles, 225 by direct fire damage, and 174 by heat damage 

    Proton’s initiative follows the government’s announcement of financial aid for affected residents. The automaker understands that the financial aid victims are getting may not be sufficient, and thus it hopes that its latest contribution will help the affected residents to cope better.
